The LCSS hosts the graduate school “Science and Society” in cooperation with the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW). The interdisciplinary LCSS emphasizes basic Higher Education Research and Science Studies. The DZHW provides a rich source of data sets. This combination offers ideal conditions for a successful and original PhD-Thesis.

The PhD students will participate in an interdisciplinary qualification program that consists of four pillars: a specific curriculum designed for Higher Education Research and Science Studies, competencies of academic research work and publishing strategies, an accompanying colloquium, and the acquisition of teaching skills. Moreover, an elaborated support program and various individual support measures such as “write-up scholarships” are offered.
