Vita
Asih Widi Wisudawati studied chemistry and science education at the University of Sebelas Maret, Indonesia (2002-2007). She completed her doctoral studies in chemistry education at the University of Muenster, Germany, in 2022, focusing on revealing misconceptions among students and teachers in Indonesia, Tanzania and Ethiopia regarding acid-base and redox reactions. Since September 2024, she has served as head of the department, leading the Sustainable and Inclusive Chemistry Education (SICE) research group. Her current research interests focus on systems thinking, ocean literacy and environmental (marine) education. She frequently conducts Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) to reveal young people’s (mis)conceptions, perceptions, or public statements on social media platforms.
Projects at LCSS
At LCSS, Asih conducts the research project “Youth NEET- Perception and Reactions toward Misinformation”. NEET is defined as young people who are not in education, employment, or training. The focus is on the environmental crisis among citizens in Indonesia's coastal areas. The project examines the NEET perceptions of fake news. According to strengthening this epistemic study, she collaborates with Prof. Andreas Nehring from Leibniz University of Hannover and Prof. Joon Sang Baek from Yonsei University in South Korea to reflect science in a multi-dimensional approach as an effort to tackle the environmental crisis. We examine the perceptions of younger generations in Indonesia, South Korea, and Germany from the existing studies.
