DFG-Project: Multiple Competition in Research and Education: Comparing South Korea and the United States

Within the first phase of the research group "Multiple Competition in the Higher Education System", the project examined the dynamics of multiple competition in research and education using Germany’s Excellence Initiative and the Quality Pact for Teaching as examples. In the current phase, the focus is broadened to include the higher education systems of the United States and South Korea.

The project aims to analyze how different competitive conditions affect the positioning and development of universities. Particular attention is given to national systems that are largely shaped by private universities and where competition for students is more advanced than in Germany.

Through this international comparison, the project contributes to the development of a theory of multiple competition and provides practice-relevant insights for higher education and science studies.

Project Duration: 06/2024–05/2027
