Vita

Anna is a migration and media scholar specializing in transnational publics and diasporic media. Her research focuses on how migration reshapes media practices, political participation, and knowledge production across post-Soviet and European contexts. She is currently a researcher at the DAAD Center for German Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Serving previously as Associate Professor at St. Petersburg State University, Anna also worked on the internationalization of science and education at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She holds a PhD in Political Science, with a dissertation on Russian-language media in Germany and their social and political roles within migrant communities.

Projects at LCSS

At LCSS, Anna conducts an empirical study on how exiled scholars from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus with previously established academic careers navigate the competitive structures of German academia after Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The project examines the interplay between structural barriers, institutional support, and individual academic resources, with a particular focus on how prior achievements are devalued or transformed in the host system and how scholars rebuild or convert their academic capital.
