Current Research

I am currently working on my Ph.D. thesis, titled 'Scenes of Disconnection,' which explores disconnection, the phenomenon associated with opting out of (digital) networks. To examine social and cultural practices of disconnection, I analyze different scenes. These parts are based on phenomena such as the dead spot, shielding a house from electrical radiation, and disrupting a signal. Starting with technological artifacts, my approach aims to integrate the material dimension of these practices and incorporate artistic interventions in the field. On a methodological level, I seek to combine empirical work for building theory. Drawing from (disconnection) theory, I explore everyday phenomena through theoretical concepts related to materialism and space.

In my capacity as Research Associate at the LCSS, I am engaged in a project focusing on 'Disruptive Technologies.' These technologies claim to address significant global issues such as climate change and world hunger. We are developing a theoretical concept shedding light on the backstages of these technologies, considering their material conditions and the (human) work they depend on.
